June's Hot Rolls




June's Hot Rolls
Mix 1/8 c warm water with 2 tsp yeast and 1 tsp sugar. Let sit for 10 minutes.
While it sits, melt 1/2 stick of butter in microwave for 30 seconds. Then add 1 cup milk and microwave 30 seconds longer. Add one beaten egg to mixture. Pour water/yeast combo into kitchen aid bowl and add milk mixture. Add 1 tsp salt, 1/3 heaping cup of sugar, and 2 c. flour. Using dough hook, mix ingredients until incorporated, then add flour 1/2 cup at a time until dough is a ball and the bowl is clean (about 3 1/2 to 4 cups flour total). Cover and let rise for 30-45 minutes. Punch down. Let sit for 5 minutes. Roll out half of dough. Spread softened butter on dough. Slice into roughly 2 inch squares and place 3 at a time in a greased muffin tin. Let rise for 20-30 minutes, then bake at 350 degrees for 12-14 minutes. Rub a stick of butter over the tops of rolls when the come out of the oven. Makes about 12-15 delicious rolls.
